Scott Murdoch
Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Scott began playing banjo at 15 and guitar at 16, but never performed in public, due to lack of confidence, though it was always his dream.
In the mid 80’s the hotel business brought Scott and family to Washington, DC and he never “looked back” on the advice of his musical hero, Bob Dylan (Don’t Look Back).
Scott retired in 2018, and on turning 70 in 2020, and reacting to a favorite quote from Kurt Vonnegut, he decided to shed his stage fright and go out and play the songs he loves.
He assembled a group of musicians to play the first Fluvanna County Farmer’s Market and then took on the role of Music Coordinator for the Market. Out of that came The Outliers which begot The New Outliers which begot Jefferson Speedboat. Scott feels privileged to be playing with JSB and considers it a “band of brothers.”
Favorite song lyric: “You can be known as the most beautiful woman who ever crawled across cut glass to make a deal.” Bob Dylan, 1983.
